Although I confess I would still reach for SilverEfex if I wanted to work in B&W, I really haven't explored what I could do with other tools. It seems to me that the Nik Collection, if not yet expired, in unlikely to rise from its sick bed.ĭxO have the "U Point" technology embedded in PhotoLab, which is obviously their main product line. Now I use ACDSee as the software example, but these techniques apply to ANY competent software on the market. Here is an old article I wrote on Getting "killer" B&W conversions. That and my pea brain doesn't have the attention span or cognitive ability to even begin to figure out PS - haha. I wish I could explain it, or understand it, but Silver Efex Pro just does B&W "better." I would like to think they aren't getting back to either of us because their computer people are working on the issue, but it'd be nice if they let us know. I'm getting "failed to load input images." It's probably the same thing as you are getting, jus the difference between LR and PS. That said, Silver Efer Pro is great and there is a reason it has been around for 100 years. Obviously you can perform B&W conversions using Lr and Ps. I’ve been waiting for help from DxO support for a month now.

I get an error when starting PS that says plug-ins failed to load. That being said, what is are some alternatives to the Nike Collections and what are people's experiences with those products?Īre you having the same issue I am? I upgraded and only 3 of the modules load into Photoshop. It's been over a week now, and no one from support has responded to my most recent email. (Specifically, HDR Efex.)Ī major difficulty is that the Nik Collection support is only available via email and there is a six hour time difference between where they are in England, and where I am in Chicago, which makes communication lag. I've gone back and forth with customer service via email for over three weeks, but to no avail, the full suite just won't work. Now, with the 4th update by the most recent owners of the collection, the full suite does not work on my computer, for unknown reasons.

I've used the Nik Collection with Lightroom for a number of years and especially like Silver Efex Pro and Color Efex Pro. I'm not sure where to post this, so I'm posting it here.
